This page is dedicated to Sypha. She was a rescue and came to us from a good samaritan in Arizona. Sypha was as bully in attitude as they came. She loved humans and I constantly found myself having to remind everyone that Sypha was a dog. She changed many people's minds about this breed. She was my teacher, my heart and my pal.
She was a classic example of how dog aggression does not equal people aggression. She was very aggressive towards all animals, but lived all her 9 years without one negative human incident. She would crawl on her belly around children and wouldn't get up until they left. She didn't want them to feel threatened by her. She was gentle, kind and motherly. Although animal aggression is not a very fun thing to deal with, it does NOT always indicate people aggression. Sypha, and many others in this breed, are prime examples of that.
She died in our arms on January 11, 2005. It was the hardest thing we ever decided to do. She was suffering, greatly, from a brain tumor. The vet said that, if not for the tumor, she probably would have lived a very long time.
Sypha Bear, you took a piece of me with you. It took two dogs to keep that place warm. I love you forever baby girl.
